“Put these rusty nails right beside your bed
and rest your head upon this pile of broken bones.I am not afraid of falling asleep,
it’s waking up, what gives me the creeps.”
(from “A Burial Rite)
Rant – Whoa.
“…keeps your days forever grey”, the last words from the intro of the untitled debut release by a new 4-piece punk band from trier/germoney called Rant. Grey respectively dark are pretty good facets to describe the vivid, heavy, pissed off and distorted sound-outfit.
They play a “beautiful” straight in your face melange of hardcore, violence and crust, which will burst your ears for 12 min like a ponderous disruptive tempest. Pretty sick stuff and wel-played stuff.
Regarding the content of the almost in english written lyrics, Rant are dealing critical with our society and life aspects. A special thing about the lyrics is that some phrases are in german (“Und deine Heimat ist ein Konstrukt”), which delivers a nice contrast while listening.
“We left our caves and lost ourselves
Became the threat and will collapse
Alive or dead, we may regret.
Und nach uns die SinnflutOne more dance,
no more tomorrow”
Benny (also a member of the band) from Druckwelle did a hell of a job on the artwork, as always (just look at his work for Ruined Families, The Tidaly Sleep, City Light Thief and a thousand more here). It looks so awesome.
The tape was released by Matin from Fear of Heights Records. Get it here.
Highly recommended.
