Shirokuma – “Wow, this is hella catchy”.
These were my first thoughts as I heard the very first tunes of the s/t release by a young 4-piece band from Söderhamn, Sweden called Shirokuma some months ago. Well, they play a very energetic mix of screamo and emo, think of maybe Touche, Disembarked or Vi som älskade varandra så mycket. It’s not that they are heavy nor rough like a lot of bands I’ve posted lately although immense emotive and stirring. It really would be a stroke of bad luck, if they don’t get hyped at any point next year.
Shit I love the guitars so much. All 4 four songs (fav: “Dropping Out”) are strikingly good for a debut ep and I think that they are able keep this quality easily on a full-length. They have a massive potential, hope they don’t split up or anything.
Already in my best of 2013 list. Awesome stuff.
